The third community concert in the popular Concerts at Kent Town series commences at 2pm on Wednesday 18 September at Wesley Church, Kent Town. Tickets are still only $8 and includes afternoon tea.

This afternoon's presentation features members of the much admired South Australian Police Band who are known for their wide-ranging repertoire.

Rob Booth, the Band's music arranger explained: "The Band of the SA Police is renowned for its musical diversity. In any given week a member may find themselves performing anything from parade band, to jazz band, to chamber group, to concert band (and anything in between).

"This diversity enables the members to connect with the broad musical tastes of our community. The opportunity for its members to perform in a recital type environment gives them the chance to maintain solo skills not always exposed in day to day engagements.

"The South Australia Police is an institution steeped in proud tradition, being the first Police Force in Australia, and one of the oldest in the world. It was formed in 1838, only nine years after Sir Robert Peel created the first Police Force, the "London Metropolitan Police"

Soloists performing in the concert will be:
Robert Booth (Trumpet)
Paul Simpson Smith (Marimba) and Peter Overall (Marimba)
Steve Todd (percussion)
Nick Bauer (Trumpet)
Carol Young (Piano)
David Burvill-Holmes (Flute)
Clarinet Quartet: (Jaqueline Hatcher Jaclyn Hale, Paul Drayson, Lynda Culshaw)

The program will include works by Mozart, Haydn, Mendez, Tarrega, Gomez, John Cage and Anthony Wakefield.
