Ellen in London!

Top US stand up comedienne and chat show host, Ellen Degeneres is expected to play a 3 week season in London in October/ November. It's rumored that she will fill a theatre that is expected to lose its current show soon.
A very funny lady who I'm sure has a brilliant full show

I saw many clips and videos of her and she seems great. She did get a lot of flack for going on air during the writers' strike, though, but in fairness, unlike Leno et al, she writes her own stuff.

Haymarket, you think?

What busy time for comediennes that will be, with French and Saunders around too.
The rain we knew is a thing of the past -
deep-delving, dark, deliberate you would say
browsing on spire and bogland; but today
our sky-blue slates are steaming in the sun,
our yachts tinkling and dancing in the bay
like racehorses. We contemplate at last
shining windows, a future forbidden to no one.

I like Ellen and have seen and enjoyed both her sitcom and her chatshow. It will be interesting whether she could see out a three week season as she not that well known over here.

I'm thinking the Lyric Theatre for that one? Correct me if I'm wrong - and I'm sure you will !

Well, how big a theatre can she sell? Lyric holds 949 or so, right? Haymarket is around that also.

Princeton, that's not a transfer of 'A Compas!', is it?

DeathStar, has Buddy announced a closing?

Karen Ruimy, hailed as the golden girl of flamenco dancing, who will lead a troupe into the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue, in a show called Flamen'ka which producer Deke Arlon is presenting from September 18 for a two-month run.

The show is written and directed by Craig Revel Horwood and will include flamenco, tango, modern ballet, a company of 20 dancers and music to make you want to shake it...

Craig Revel Horwood? Whose name seems to always be pronounced 'Craig Rev'l Hoard' for some reason? Hmm. Interesting. He looks about as Spanish as a Sunday Roast.

He used to be plain old Craig Horwood from Ballarat, a regional city about 120 mile out of Melbourne when I knew of him.

Latest is that instead of a 3 week season in a 'normal' West End house they may go for a few nights at Hammersmith Caves.
The next possibility is for her to try and break the World Record for a stand up comedy act that was broken by Chris Rock at the O2 arena a few weeks back. He broke the record held by Lee Evans who in turn is going to try and break Chris Rocks in December and get his title back.
Does Ellen have a chance at this in the UK???
If she goes anywhere bigger than Hammersmith I wont bother going!

Supposedly a ticket agent in the west End is advertising her as playing Hammersmith Odeon in Nov?

Welcome Ellen! We need the voice of American reason and commonsense to help redress adverse national stereotypes that have built up over here recently.

I wonder if she'll be filming some episodes of her chat show?
