The sell out national tour of the hit musical 'Hairspray' is to relaunch in 2011 and continue into 2012.
The production has been selling out a good few weeks, even months, before the show arrives at its booked theatres and many of these theatres are taking the show in again on its second tour along with many others.
You simply 'Cant Stop The Beat'!

Wimbledon will do well and I believe it's a three week run. I went recently to the New Wimbledon Theatre to see Derren Brown and it's a great venue plus it's so easy to get to. Wonder if being close to London prevents it from having lengthy runs like Manchester, Edinburgh etc

This tour goes right up until November and Birmingham. Not sure if they have a Christmas run?
Wimbledon is a gorgeous venue with West End facilities. It has had long runs but no more than 4 weeks. It used to be a try out house for West End musicals in the 50s to the 70s.
'Oliver!' had its first ever performance at Wimbledon.
The theatre was closed down in the 80s and used as a storage place for a carpet company and was within weeks from demolition when the locals put up a fight to save it!

If 'Sweeney' stays on track for spring next year he isn't going to want to stay on too long into 2011 if Edinburgh isnt his last date!
I really want to see it again.

Yep! there is that, but I wouldn't be suprised if we didn't see Edna again at some point, even if only for a short period of time lol!!

I've not caught up with the tour yet...may not until Edinburgh now.

My only worry with Hairspray is once this tour finishes, say next Spring or whenever it will be. Then they relaunch it with new cast etc, is that the Ednas will get worse and pull the show down...Shane Ritchie for example. Plus if they want smaller venues they will downsize it and it goes the way of Grease. That would be a crying shame.
