The Mirror is reporting that High School Musical and Hairspray actor Zac Efron is gunning to make his West End stage debut as Joseph in the production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Adelphi Theater.

The Mirror reports, "Zac, 20, got in touch with Andrew Lloyd Webber about the role after hearing the current Joseph, Lee Mead, is due to leave in January. The pair met last month and are now working out a deal. A source close to Lloyd Webber said: “It is a marriage made in musical heaven. Zac loves the role and is keen to clock up some stage time in London."

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is the second musical theatre show written by the team of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. It is based on the "Coat of many colors" story of Joseph from the Bible. It was released as a film (starring Donny Osmond) in 1999.
