Twitter impresario @Westendproducer is back! This time with up-and-coming Production Company Michael Peavoy Productions to bring a new musical theatre contest to Soho Theatre - 'Search for a Twitter Composer'.

Using the same format as his Search for a Twitter Star, the contest is about finding, nurturing and developing musical theatre writers of the future - and helping their work be seen and heard by a whole new audience. And just like last year the contest is being run online - with the public helping decide who wins.

This competition aims for new work to be heard by a large audience via the internet, with songs going viral, and people making a name for themselves online, we want social media to help spread the word and work of new musical theatre composers.

The contest is run by industry professionals, who all have a desire and enthusiasm to help discover, nurture, and support undiscovered musical theatre writers. Whether you work in a partnership or on your own - they would be thrilled to hear from you.

And, just like Search for a Twitter Star - the public helps decide which composer wins.

After the first round closes - and all entries have been considered - there will be two showcases at the Soho Theatre, followed by a live final in July. The ultimate aim is to develop the winning musical and hopefully staging a production.

This is the first time there has been on online contest to find, support, and nourish the talents of musical theatre writers. We are looking for aspiring composers, writers, anyone who has written an original musical, or indeed has started writing an original musical.

The rules are simple. Using twitter, you simply upload a section of your musical - however you want to show it - onto YouTube and tweet @westendproducer the link. The maximum time length of a video on YouTube is 15 minutes - and that is how long you have!

It's entirely up to you how you use that time. You can show selections of the songs with a synopsis, or give an introduction to your musical and its story. It's entirely up to you, giving you complete control of your entry. Of course you can also enter by sending a copy of the musical via email or post - and the judging panel will listen, watch, and offer feedback on every entry.

A few words from @westendproducer: 'I often spend evenings relaxing with my Jean Valjean teddy listening to glorious musicals. And while I am always extremely thrilled to hear classic musicals, my passion has always been new work. There have recently been lots of new musicals - each remarkably different and daring in their own way. But now I want to push this new work and talent even further - by actively searching, supporting, and helping new composers. We want to find someone with an individual voice, a distinctive sound - with something exciting and groundbreaking to offer to the world of musical theatre. If you have a talent and passion for writing original music then this is for you. Please get in touch, upload a sample of your work to YouTube, and share your work with the world. It's time that musical theatre moved forward - and that is what this competition is about. We want to find the next big musical theatre composing talent.'
