This year it seems that Christmas cheer is needed more than ever. Here at BroadwayWorld, we want to give you the inside scoop on some incredible deals and hidden offers so you can enjoy a theatrical festive treat, without having to part with too much cash.


1. Mother Goose, Hackney Empire

The Mother of all pantomimes is back in Hackney this festive season, starring Clive Rowe as Mother Goose. First created in 1902 for Music Hall legend and Hackney Empire performer Dan Leno, the theatre is celebrating 120 years of this iconic pantomime at the end of their 120th birthday year!

With their 'Green Super Saver' tickets, you can grab a chance to see the show for just £10. They also have £2 off concessions available for every performance.

2. The Fir Tree, Shakespeare's Globe

Wrap up warm and experience the magic of Christmas in The Globe Theatre with all the family, as their re-imagining of Hans Christian Andersen's festive fairy tale The Fir Tree returns for a second year. Standing tickets are the usual £5 and half price seated tickets are available for under 18s.

3. The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz, Tron Theatre

This year, Tron Theatre is home to The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz. Preview performances are slightly discounted at £14 for the first two performances. But the best bit is that part of the Tron's pledge to deliver affordable theatre, ticket prices range from just £17.50 to £24 for other performances with no questions asked.

4. Little Red Robin Hood, Battersea Arts Centre

The Battersea Arts Centre returns for its annual panto mash-up. The wicked Sheriff of Nottingham has captured the famous outlaw Robin Hood! Who is going to stand up for the people now? Surely not a tiny girl in a red riding hood?

BAC has a long-standing policy of Pay-What-You-Can and many performances are available to watch with these tickets, no matter what you can afford.

5. Pantoland Online

Panto Online started at the beginning of the Covid pandemic, but has carried on so you can watch a family friendly panto from the comfort of your own home.

Peter Duncan - acclaimed Panto Dame, writer and director - is launching three Panto Online digital films for families, schools and community groups, and in true Blue Peter spirit, he's taken his passion and expertise for panto and "made them earlier".

You can enjoy Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella and brand new production - Pantoland (which follows Dame Dolly Doughnut on a magical adventure! The best thing is that a family ticket covering all three pantomimes is just £15!

Pantoland will start streaming from 1 December but you can book your tickets now and access the film once it goes live. For more information, click here.

6. Who's Holiday!, Southwark Playhouse

Who's Holiday! is the adults-only comedy by Matthew Lombardo that tells the story of Cindy Lou Who as she recalls that Christmas Eve she first met the Grinch and the twisted turn of events her life has now taken.

Starring legendary US Drag superstar Miz Cracker, star of RuPaul's Drag Race and RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars as Cindy Lou Who. Tickets are £28, but if you purchase the Southwark Playhouse's Pay-As-You-Go subscription, you pay just £60 and get five tickets which can be used for any of their shows (conditions apply). Be aware that from December 1 2022, PAYG subscriptions will cost £75.

7. Jack And The Beanstalk, Lyric Hammersmith

Expect beanstalk climbing, giant defeating, golden egg-laying, extreme skateboarding, milk explosions, singing cows, some absolutely outrageous outfits and of course Beyoncé in the Lyric Hammersmith's panto.

Tickets start from just £10 and the theatre offers its usual 'Free First Night' for those who live in Hammersmith and Fulham.

A brand-new adaptation of Kenneth Grahame's much loved The Wind in the Willows by award-winning children's author Piers Torday comes to Wilton's this Christmas. There will be songs, puppetry and all the favourite characters will be there - Ratty, Mole, Badger, Toad and the Weasels. Not to mention a picnic or two...

Tickets start from £13, with concessions starting from just £10.

9. Nutcracker, London Coliseum

Over 100 dancers and musicians bring Nutcracker to life with exquisite dancing, beautiful sets and Tchaikovsky's popular score played live by English National Ballet Philharmonic.

Tickets start from a not-so-wallet-friendly £45 in the run-up to Christmas, but if you can wait until after Christmas itself, you can get tickets from just £15 from 3 January onwards.

10. Cinderella, Stratford East

Get ready to experience Stratford East's unique twist on this classic tale, set in the ancient home of Sphynx cats, pharaohs and the empress Cleopatra. Tickets start from just £10.

11. The Great Christmas Snow Patrol, Harlow Playhouse

Harlow Playhouse are proud to present this year's festive adventure for younger theatregoers. The Great Christmas Snow Patrol is a brand new, fun-filled, sing-along, interactive show for 2-6 year olds, their families, pre-schools and, nurseries.

After the performance, children will get the chance to meet Santa and receive a special Christmas gift. Tickets are £12 for children and £9.50 for adults.

The Northampton theatre is offering tickets from £12.50 to their magical production for under 7s and their grown-ups.

Alongside this show, Royal & Derngate theatre are also running Beyond The Stage, a series of activities linked to the production. A wide range of free workshops, such as puppet making, creative challenges for schools and foyer activities for all ages are available to book. For more information, click here.

13. A Christmas Carol, Touring

Half Cut Theatre's version of the Dickens classic is touring around the country, playing in unique venues such as Chute Village Hall and St Mary the Virgin Church in Kentford. Tickets are completely free to reserve - you then you Pay What You Decide after the performance!

14. Pay What You Can, The Vaults

Waterloo's favourite alternative venue has no less than three fantastic festive shows running for Christmas; The Witches Of Oz, Peter Pan's Labyrinth and Stranger Sings. For every show on Wednesday and Sunday performances, they are offering Pay What You Can tickets.

When purchasing a ticket, for a Wednesday or Sunday, you'll be offered a variety of prices to pick from; with each ticket, no matter the price, acting as a General Admission ticket.

15. The Nutcracker, Bristol Old Vic

Bristol Old Vic presents a bold and wild theatrical re-telling of The Nutcracker, full of magic, adventure and show-stopping dance numbers. Preview tickets start from £8 and after that you can grab tickets from just £10.

16. Betty! A Sort Of Musical, Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester

Maxine Peake and Seiriol Davies write and star in this celebration of the first female speaker of the House of Commons, Betty Boothroyd.

The theatre has Pay What You Decide tickets spread throughout the theatre; you can pick the seat and price that are right for you. The usual price range includes: £3, £5, £10, £15, £25, £50. The default price is just £10.

They also offer banquette tickets. This is the front row of the theatre, with unreserved seating on low bench seats. Banquette tickets are released for all performances of a production at 10am on the morning of the first preview. The usual price is £10.
