St. James Theatre has announced that Anita Dobson, star of stage and screen, will join Edward Seckerson to discuss her varied career on Sunday 20 March at 3pm. One of Britain's most distinguished actresses, Dobson's extensive list of credits ranges from popular TV staples like EastEnders to classical theatre and musicals.

Her stage highlights include Budgie (Cambridge Theatre); The Three Sisters (Royal Court); Kvetch (Garrick Theatre); Charley's Aunt (Aldwych Theatre); Frozen (National Theatre) for which she was nominated for an Olivier, Evening Standard and London Critics' Circle Award; Carnival of the Animals (Riverside Studios); Chicago (Adelphi Theatre); Thoroughly Modern Millie (Shaftesbury Theatre); Hamlet (New Ambassadors and on tour); 'Dolly Levi' in Hello Dolly! (Theatre Royal Lincoln and on tour); Calendar Girls at the Noel Coward Theatre; Sleeping Beauty (Richmond); 'Joan Crawford' in Bette and Joan at the Arts Theatre; and recently She Stoops to Conquer at the Theatre Royal, Bath.

On TV, she's perhaps best known for playing Angie Watts in EastEnders, a role for which she won the Pye Award for Television Personality of the Year, the Daily Mirror's Actress of the Year and the TV Times Actress of the Year award, voted for by the public. Other credits include The Last Detective; New Tricks; The Bill; Hotel Babylon; Casualty; Katy Brand's Big Ass Show; Green Santa; Little Crackers 'My First Nativity', playing opposite Catherine Tate; Sadie J; Moving On; Pompidou; Holby City; and most recently Queen Elizabeth I in Armada.

Her film credits include Beyond Bedlam, Seaview Knights, Titchborne Clairmont, The Revengers Comedies, Obsession, Charlie, Solitary, The Rise and Fall of the Krays, and most recently London Road based on Rufus Norris's acclaimed National Theatre production.

Dobson has also appeared on Strictly Come Dancing and earned a silver disc for her hit record Anyone Can Fall in Love.

Edward Seckerson is a writer and broadcaster specialising in classical music, opera and musical theatre. He has a long-standing career in British print and broadcasting media, was formerly music critic on The Independent and for six years presented the popular BBC Radio 3 series Stage and Screen. More recently he has conducted live interviews on stage, including a number of times at the St. James Theatre, with distinguished actors, classical musicians and stars of musical theatre.

Tickets for A Conversation with Anita Dobson are on sale to St. James Theatre members and friends from today, and will go on general sale on Friday 5 February at 10am. Tickets are £20, £5 off for students, seniors and Victoria Privilege Card holders, and £5 for groups of 8+.
