Shakespeare's Globe enters the final few weeks of its 2009 theatre season, Young Hearts, having presented an ambitious programme of Shakespeare plays and bold new writing. The season so far has included three main house Shakespeare productions, two world premieres, one revival of a new play and two regional open air tours with over 350,000 people having seen a Globe show this year. A revival of Artistic Director Dominic Dromgoole's 2007 production of Love's Labour's Lost will close the season, before commencing a two month tour of the USA. For the first time ever, Shakespeare's Globe will open its doors this Christmas with Footsbarn's Christmas Cracker.

Troilus and Cressida with Matthew Kelly as Pandarus will close on 20 September; Trevor Griffiths' play A New World: A Life of Thomas Paine will close on 9 October and As You Like It directed by Thea Sharrock will close on 10 October. Love's Labour's Lost will run in rep from 25 September - 10 October. Beyond this year's theatre season Shakespeare's Globe Theatre will open its doors over the festive period with a Christmas production. Following their Shakespeare Party in 2008, the acclaimed and totally unique Footsbarn Theatre returns to the Globe with Footsbarn's Christmas Cracker - a family feast of carnival, comedy and Christmas cheer. The production will run for 18 performances between 22 December 2009 and 3 January 2010.

The 2009 Young Hearts season included Romeo and Juliet and Frank McGuinness' new version of Euripides' Helen, as well as Ché Walker's panoramic of modern London, The Frontline. Shakespeare's Globe also extended its reach across the country with two touring productions of The Comedy of Errors and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
