Red Handed Theatre Company will present Sheridan's most popular comedy, The School for Scandal, at the Park Theatre, London from the 12 June to the 7 July. Directed by Jessica Swale, this sparkling period production will come to life in one of London's newest venues before transferring to the Georgian Theatre Royal Bury St. Edmunds.

The LonDon Gossip scene is buzzing. Masquerading behind the veneer of polite society, malicious prattlers trade gossip like gamblers and ruin reputations for sport.

The School for Scandal was first performed at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in 1777 and satirizes the desire for gossip and hypocrisy in eighteenth century fashionable society. Through a host of comic situations, witty dialogue and an intricate plot, no one is safe from the gossip that this group of eccentric characters brings upon themselves.

Jessica Swale (Director) is the Artistic Director of the Red Handed Theatre Company and Associate Director for Youth Bridge Global. This August, her first full length play, Blue Stockings, will make its world premiere at Shakespeare's Globe, directed by John Dove.Recent directing credits include The Belle's Stratagem (Evening Standard Best Director Nominee, 2012), The Busy Body, The Rivalsstarring Celia Imrie and Someone Who'll Watch Over Me (Southwark Playhouse), Sleuth (Watermill), Bedlam (Shakespeare's Globe) and Palace of the End (Arcola).

Belinda Lang will play Lady Sneerwell. Best known for her role in the BBC hit situation comedy 2Point 4 Children, Lang in recent years has dedicated her career to the stage. In 2012 she starred in the UK tour of Ladies in Lavender.

Timothy Speyer (playing Sir Oliver) has had a prolific theatre career, with recent credits including She Stoops She Conquers (National Theatre), the Royal Shakespeare Company's 50th anniversary season, The Merry Wives of Windsor (Shakespeare's Globe) and the hit West End production of 39 Steps.

Stars of long standing BBC Radio drama, The Archers, Buffy Davis and Rachel Atkins, will take on the roles of Mrs Candor and Mrs Rowley. The cast also includes Russell Bentley, Kirsty Besterman, Micheal Bryher, Jessica Clark, Daniel Gosling, Harry Kerr andCharlie Tighe.
