Ralph Fiennes to Star in Reza's 'The God of Change'

WhatsOnStage.com reports Ralph Fiennes, last seen on Broadway in last season's The Faith Healer, will return to the London stage in The God of Change, a new comedy by Yasmina Reza to premiere at the Gielgud Theatre on March 7, 2008.

Playwright Yasmina Reza is most noted for her critically acclaimed three-person dark-comedy, Art, which ran for eight years in the West End and later transferred to Broadway, winning the 1998 Tony Award for Best Play. Her other plays include The Unexpected Man and Life x 3

"In the new piece, Fiennes plays the lawyer father of a nine-year-old boy who has hit another child on the playground. The victim's parents have invited Fiennes and his wife round to discuss the matter," explains the website, "The London production of The God of Carnage reunites for the first time the team behind Art - translator Christopher Hampton, director Matthew Warchus and producers David Pugh and Dafydd Rogers."

Best known for dramatic and classical roles, Fiennes last starred in the UK in Barbican's production of Julius Ceasar (2004), directed by Deborah Warner.  His other theatre credits include Brand, Coriolanus, Richard IIRalph Fiennes may be most recognizable from his impressive list of film credits, including the face of Voldemort in the hit Harry Potter series.  Other big-screen roles include The Constant Gardener, The English Patient and Schindler's List.
