PROOF by David Auburn begins performances at The Menier Chocolate Factory on the 13th March 2013.

Polly Findlay directs David Auburn's Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning play fresh from her receiving critical plaudits for Antigone (National Theatre) and A Taste of Honey (Sheffield Theatres).

Catherine has cared for her father Robert, a renowned mathematician, through his mental illness for the past five years. His ex-student, Hal, discovers a ground-breaking proof in Robert's office but the question is posed: who is the real author of this brilliant work? Catherine struggles to solve this as well the most perplexing problem of all: how much of her father's madness - or genius - has she inherited?

Design is by Helen Goddard (The Village Bike - Royal Court, Steel Magnolias - Dublin / Bath, The Country Wife - Manchester Royal Exchange,) and lighting design is by Paul Anderson (The Master and Margarita - Complicite/Barbican; Talent, Terrible Advice and Torch Song Trilogy - Chocolate Factory).

Tickets go on sale to Chocolate Factory priority bookers from midday on Monday 14th January, and to the general public at 9am on Wednesday 23rd January.

Casting will be announced shortly.
