Nuffield Southampton Theatres today announces the appointment of Annelie Powell as its first Head of Casting in a freelance role.

Director of Nuffield Southampton Theatres Sam Hodges said today, "'We're very pleased that Annelie will be joining us from the RSC. This brand new appointment signals an important step-change for us as we open our new theatre later in the year. Annelie will work with us to develop a long-term casting strategy which aims to attract leading talent from around the country, establishes diversity and access as the status quo, and supports the emergence of a local talent ecology in the region.'

Annelie Powell said, "I was born in Southampton and am delighted to be joining Nuffield Southampton Theatres as it moves into this exciting new phase. I look forward to collaborating with Sam Hodges and the whole company, as we develop this further chapter in NST's illustrious history."

Powell, who previously cast NST's production of Fantastic Mr Fox, joins from the RSC where she has been Assistant Casting Director since 2012. Her casting credits for the RSC include Imperium, Myth, The Earthworks, The Rover, The Two Noble Kinsmen and Seven Acts of Mercy. Prior to the RSC, she worked freelance on a wide range of projects in film, television and theatre.
