Nottingham Playhouse is thrilled that one of its productions for children, THE RAILWAY CHILDREN, has been snapped up to appear in London's West End. Directed by Roundabout and Education director Andrew Breakwell THE RAILWAY CHILDREN was a smash hit at the Playhouse last summer and was then asked to transfer to the Oxford Playhouse. It was there that new Chief Executive and Artistic Director of Sadler's Wells, Alistair Spalding saw the show and decided to make it the Easter attraction at the Peacock Theatre in London's West End. This is the second time in eighteen months that a Nottingham Playhouse "made in Nottingham" production has enjoyed a successful transfer. In September 2003 RAT PACK CONFIDENTIAL, directed by Playhouse Artistic Director Giles Croft, was hugely successful at the Whitehall Theatre where it played for 3 months.

Speaking of the transfer Stephanie Sirr, Chief Executive of Nottingham Playhouse said

"We make world class work at the Playhouse and it's always nice when that's recognised by our commercial partners. A run at the Peacock is very exciting for us and we hope that many of our friends in Nottingham are able to get there to see it. However, in future I would recommend seeing it at the Playhouse - our prices are considerably less than those in London!"

CHILDREN OF THE CROWN, by Nottingham writer Nick Wood, is this year's children's production at Nottingham Playhouse and runs from Friday 1 July to Saturday 16 July. Fast, furious and madcap, CHILDREN OF THE CROWN tells the story of two royal brothers, Rian and Finn, who are forced to embark upon the most important journey of their life. The death of their father and their uncle's betrayal plunges the kingdom into crisis. Suspected of murder and fearing for their lives, Rian and Finn must decide whether to flee or to fight for the crown that is rightfully theirs. Will anyone trust them? Will they win back the crown? And will they discover what it takes to rule a nation? See it here before it hits Broadway!

THE RAILWAY CHILDREN adapted by Mary Elliott Nelson and directed by Andrew Breakwell opens at The Peacock Theatre, Kingsway, WC2 on Wednesday 23rd March and plays until Sunday 10th April. Tickets priced from £10 to £20 and available on 0870 737 7737.
