National Youth Music Theatre today announced a campaign to raise funds to support a studio recording of their hit new musical PRODIGY.

Featuring a cast of 27 actor musicians aged between 11 and 23 drawn from across the UK, PRODIGY opened to rave reviews at the St James Theatre in London in August 2015. Written by acclaimed musical theatre partnership Jake Brunger and Pippa Cleary - the emerging young team behind this year's hit adaptation of The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole at Leicester Curve - PRODIGY is about 5 finalists competing in a televised classical music competition and immediately struck a chord with audiences and critics alike.

National Youth Music Theatre now aim to raise £10,000 to fund the professional studio recording to be released on iTunes, Spotify and for sale on CD in 2016. The talented young cast have put together a video explaining what the recording would mean to them. Check it out below!

Jeremy Walker, producer of National Youth Music Theatre, said: "This is a huge undertaking for us as an organisation, but an enormously exciting one! With a cast of 27 actor-musicians drawn from across the United Kingdom, all of whom play their instruments throughout the show, we would love the opportunity to record this show for future generations of musical theatregoers. We can't wait to share this album with the world."

With previous alumni including Sheridan Smith, Jude Law, Matt Lucas, Tom Chambers and Idris Elba, PRODIGY looks set to launch a whole new generation of musical theatre performers.
