John Barrowman Receives Honorary Doctorate

According to IMDB.com, stage and screen star John Barrowman was just made an honorary Doctor of Drama by the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in July. Also earning the honor this year were Moira Anderson, David MacLennan and Judith Howarth.

Barrowman commented: "21 years ago, I actually did my first audition for Anything Goes here opposite Elaine Paige, got the job and wasn't able to finish my degree. And here I am, 21 years later, I've finally got it. You can call me Doctor now. I'm glad I'm back up in Scotland and able to celebrate in full highland dress."

Barrowman's kicks off a concert tour that will start on 19 October in Northampton, and end on 24 November in Glasgow. In between, Barrowman will stop throughout the United Kingdom in cities including Brighton, Cambridge, Liverpool, Bournemouth, Glasgow, and Belfast. John Barrowman's stage credits include SUNSET BOULEVARD, THE FIX, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, GODSPELL, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, HAIR, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, and ANYTHING GOES. Barrowman is known for his role as Captain Jack Harkness on 'Doctor Who' and 'Torchwood.'
