We've found out that Andrew Lloyd Webber intends to search for a Jesus Christ Superstar in conjunction with an ITV1 series - but who will be joining him on the judging panel?

I've had a think, and asked for ideas, and whittled it down to a shortlist:

Ted Neeley

His name is inextricably linked with the role, having performed it on stage for most of the last 40 years as well as starring in the film.

Ian Gillan

He's the British rock singer (from Deep Purple among others) who sang the role on the original soundtrack.

Yvonne Elliman

Like her co-star Neeley, she's been almost synonymous with the role of Mary Magdalene since the show's inception.

Steve Balsamo

This wondrous rock vocalist re-created the role in the 1996 London production in his West End debut, and was utterly, utterly stunning.

Paul Nicholas

Now a respected producer (and maybe better known for his TV work), but back in the day he too was Jesus, in the original West End production.

Joanna Ampil

Admired all over the world for her musical theatre career, she was the first Mary Magdalene in the 1996 London revival.

Alice Cooper

Well, if Meat Loaf can judge Pop Star to Opera Star, we can get Alice on a musical theatre talent hunt. He sang the role of Herod on the 1996 cast recording, although he didn't play him on stage.
