Goold Directed 'King Lear' Starring Postlethwaite to Transfer to Young Vic

What's on Stage is reporting that King Lear, starring Pete Postlethwaite, directed by Rupert Goold will be transferring to the West End at the Young Vic Theatre in 2009. The show will begin performances at the Everyman Theatre in Liverpool in early November and is already sold out.

Lear will run at the Everyman from November 5th through 29th, 2008. It will begin performances at the Young Vic on January 29th, 2009 where it will play through March. Postlethwaite is joined by John Shrapnel, Forbes Masson Nigel Cookem Caroline Faberm Charlotte Randle, Amanda Hale , Jonjo O’Neill and Tobias Menzies (Edgar). The ensemble is Michael Colgan, Clarence Smith, John-Paul MacLeod and Jacob Anderson.

Pete Postlethwaite is an accomplished British actor of both film and stage. He has appeared in films such as Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, In The Name Of The Father, The Last of the Mohicans and The Usual Suspects. He's starred on stage in Richard II, Rise and Fall of Little Voice, and Scaramouche Jones.

King Lear is a tragedy by William Shakespeare, believed to have been written between 1603 and 1606, and is considered one of his greatest works. The plot centers around a father's decision to divide up his kingdom between his three daughters based upon their loyalty and devotion to him.
