The multi-award-winning Finborough Theatre's final season of 2009 features fourteen premieres of new work (including a musical) and the rediscovery of a modern classic. The season includes the European premiere of Little Fish by Michael John LaChiusa, one of Broadway's most exciting new music theatre voices; The Tobacco Merchant's Lawyer and Wide Asleep, the English premieres of sell-out Scottish hits by multi-award-winning playwright Iain Heggie; Vibrant! - A Festival of Finborough Playwrights, a ten-day season of ten new works for the stage by playwrights discovered, nurtured and championed by the Finborough Theatre; the UK premiere of Hurried Steps , created for Amnesty International's Stop Violence Against Women campaign by acclaimed Italian playwright Dacia Mariani; and the inaugural production of the Leverhulme Bursary for Emerging Theatre Directors, partnering the National Theatre Studio with the Finborough Theatre, with the first London revival in 25 years and the world premiere of a new translation of Mikhail Bulgakov's classic Molière, or The League of Hypocrites.

The season begins with The Tobacco Merchant's Lawyer, a witty one act satire by award-winning playwright Iain Heggie following a sell-out success in Scotland, which runs from 29 September to 24 October 2009. This is followed by Little Fish, a dark, vibrant and truly modern musical by Michael John LaChiusa, running from 27 October to 21 November 2009. The season concludes with Bulgakov's satire Molière, or The League of Hypocrites in the world premiere of a new translation by Michael Glenny, presented in association with the National Theatre Studio, from 24 November to 19 December 2009.

This season's Sunday and Monday productions are Wide Asleep, the English premiere of a new one man show, written and performed by Iain Heggie, complementing the main show run of Iain's The Tobacco Merchant's Lawyer, on 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19 October 2009; and the UK premiere of Hurried Steps by Italian playwright Dacia Mariani examining the impact of violence against women, on 1, 2, 8, 9, 15 and 16 November 2009.
