Just like Broadway World itself, this year will be my first time attending Edinburgh festival. I have been given many different versions of what to expect from friends who have been to the festival before, but one thing that everyone could agree on was that it will be a brilliant experience. This year I am not just attending the festival as a spectator, but also with a company called Heart Productions, who will be performing a brand new play called Time Out of Joint at C SoCo as part of the Fringe. My role is primarily as press officer for the play, but since the cast is small, I will also be involved in many other aspects of the production.

With the cast currently involved in full-time rehearsals, it feels like everything is falling into place, and with trains to book, cases to pack and the massive Fringe programme to scour, it's going to be a very busy week for everyone involved. The team up in Edinburgh will include me, the director Arnaud Mugglestone, writer/producer Frank Bramwell, set and costume designer Sorrell Moore, plus the three cast members. Time Out of Joint tells the story of the love triangle between Shakespeare (Peter Ormond) and two of his most famous muses, Katherine Hamnet (Clare Walsh), believed to be the inspiration for Ophelia in Hamlet, and the Dark Lady (Maresa Schick), to whom the Sonnets 127-152 are addressed.

Over the next five weeks, you can read all about my experiences as a first time attendee of Edinburgh festival here on Broadway World. I'll also pass on any exciting behind-the-scenes gossip I discover and my tips for the best shows to see if you are in Edinburgh yourself. I'd love to hear your recommendations too, so please leave them in the comments section, and look out for my next update very soon.
