Clarke Peters and Dominic West, stars of HBO's "The Wire," will work together again - this time on the stage. OTHELLO, being mounted in the Sheffield Crucible under the direction of Daniel Evans, will feature Peters as the title character and West as Iago.

Dominic West played the character of Jimmy McNulty in five seasons of The Wire (HBO) from 2002 to 2008. His other screen credits include The Devil's Whore, Centurion and 300. His theatre credits include The Seagull (Old Vic), As You Like It (West End), The Voysey Inheritance (National), Rock ‘n' Roll (West End) and Life Is A Dream (Donmar).

Clarke Peters has become internationally famous through his role as Lester Freamon in the enormously successful TV series, The Wire. He will also soon be seen in the HBO TV series Treme, set in New Orleans, and written by the creator of The Wire, David Simon. Peters is also recognised as a hugely accomplished stage actor and was recently seen in the title role of Porgy in Porgy and Bess at the Savoy Theatre directed by Trevor Nunn.

In OTHELLO, when the esteemed general Othello promotes Cassio, the overlooked Iago plans his revenge. The results are tragic as suspicion grows, trust is lost and Othello is compelled to take action against his lovely wife whom he believes to be unfaithful. As characters dance through the Bard's most intricate and compelling plot, OTHELLO illuminates the fine line between the cerebral and the animal in all of us. This is a visceral telling of Shakespeare's great tragedy of envy, revenge and damaged love.

Variety reports that OTHELLO will run Sept. 15-Oct. 15 with a Sept. 20 press night.
