By:

A presentation of Tricia Walsh-Smith's new musical Change The Day will be presented Dec.10 at Pineapple Dance Studios, London. Libretto and lyrics are by Walsh-Smith, music Simon Kay, director Michael Strassen.

Walsh-Smith currently stars in Sky 1's cult hit television series Pineapple Dance Studios, which is aired worldwide, and the presentation will be filmed for the show. A spin-off TV series is planned which will follow the journey of Change the Day from rehearsals to opening night.

The presentation will feature Tony Award winner Frances Ruffelle, Marc Joseph, and fresh talent from the Italia Conti Academy of Dramatic Arts, Megan Ford, Royah Hamed-Silvah and Christopher Burr. Described as Fame meets A Wonderful Life, the musical is set in a stage school in limbo.

"One moment Maddy Walker is pole dancing in a sleazy nightclub - the next she is lying on the ballroom floor of her old stage school.

Unbeknown to Maddy she is dead and in limbo.

But God takes pity and turns back time to when she was sixteen and rehearsing the school show. Maddy returns to the fateful day her life went wrong. All she has to do is change the outcome. But can she?

Frances Ruffelle won a Tony Award for her Broadway role as Eponine in Les Miserables, and has played leads in Chicago, Lloyd Webber shows, films and TV. Marc Joseph ‘s West End credits include, Les Miserables, Annie, and Le cages Aux Folles. He recently starred in the acclaimed Union Theatre production of Assassins, helmed by Change the Day director Michael Strassen. Strassen also directed Company at the Union Theatre.

Simon Kay started his musical career with 'Ultramarine' (Warner Bros). They recorded and toured through the early nineties, working with artists such as Bjork and Depeche Mode. He then returned to his first love songwriting and worked with his father Norman Kay on Four Weddings and a Funeral and then on East is East. Simon also recently recorded songs for his second co-produced feature film Full Circle.

Tricia Walsh-Smith studied at The Italia Conti Academy of Dramatic Arts. She is thrilled to have students from her alma mater appearing in the presentation. She is also the author of Bonkers, Addictions and The Last Journey.
