American film and theatre star Brooke Shields will make her British stage debut starring as 'Roxie Hart' in the smash hit West End musical "CHICAGO" at the Adelphi Theatre on Tuesday 26 April for a limited 9-week season, finishing on 25 June. Her early films include "Pretty Baby", "Blue Lagoon", "Endless Love" and "King of the Gypsies". More recently, her films have been "Black and White", "The Weekend", "The Misadventures of Margaret", "The Bachelor", "Freeway" and the forthcoming "Bob the Butler". Her television includes her award-winning appearance in "Friends" and her own long-running series "Suddenly Susan". She starred in the New York productions of "Grease", "Cabaret" and "Exonerated", and has just finished a run in the Broadway musical "WonderfulTown".

Josefina Gabrielle will play 'Roxie Hart' from 11-25 April, after Jill Halfpenny finishes her run, and 3-13 May. Anna Montanaro will continue to play 'Velma Kelly' until 7 May, when Charley Izabella King, who recently played 'Ulla' in the American national tour of "The Producers", will take over the role. Michael French, Robert Hands and Zee Asha will continue to play 'Billy Flynn', 'Amos Hart' and 'Mama Morton' respectively.

The smash hit West End musical "CHICAGO" celebrated its 7th Anniversary in London on 18 November. "CHICAGO" opened in London on 18 November 1997 to rave reviews and immediately became a sell-out hit. "CHICAGO" won the 1998 Laurence Olivier Award for 'Outstanding Musical Production' as well as the 1998 Critics Circle Drama Award for 'Best Musical'. Currently playing in New York, on tour in America and the UK, with an upcoming production in South Africa this April, "CHICAGO" is produced in London by the Broadway producers Barry and Fran Weissler.

"CHICAGO", which is based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, has a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. Scenic design is by John Lee Beatty, costume design by William Ivey Long, lighting by Ken Billington and sound by Rick Clarke. Musical supervision is by Rob Fisher and musical direction by Garth Hall. "CHICAGO" is choreographed by Ann Reinking in the style of Bob Fosse and directed by Walter Bobbie. The West End production of "CHICAGO" is staged by the entire original Broadway creative team.

The show is on sale until 3 December, with tickets priced from £17.50-£45.00 for performances between 6 June-3 December. Tickets, priced from £15.00-£42.50, for performances until 4 June can be booked on 08704 030303. "CHICAGO" plays at the Adelphi Theatre from Mondays to Thursdays at 8.00pm, with Friday performances at 5.00pm and 8.30pm and Saturday performances at 3.00pm and 8.00pm.
