Hi Niamh, and welcome back to BWW:UK. How did you get involved with this concert?

I recently finished A Song Cycle For Soho in the Soho Theatre which was directed by Simon Greiff. He kindly asked me to take part in Easter With... and sing some great new material.  It's a wonderful opportunity to see what the future holds in the industry.

Tell us a little bit about the songs you're performing. Do you have a favourite?

I love all of them - they are a very talented bunch of composers! They also randomly sit perfectly in my range so I got lucky! They've been written with the thought of who might be singing them, which is really important and not always the case.

As you say, you've recently done the Song Cycle For Soho as well - you must be becoming an expert on new British MT writing...

Haha- no I'm just a beginner! I am very intrigued about the direction in which the industry is going. I've always found it fascinating to be able to be a part of the creative process, even if it is just in a very small way. By putting your stamp on something new and being able to have an input into how a song is sung is a great feeling.

What's next for you? Will you be doing some more presenting at some point?

I'm back in the studio writing and working on my own material at the moment. I took a bit of time away from it during Love Never Dies and The Little Prince but I'm back now! And yes, I will be doing some more presenting back home in NI. It's such a fun thing to do - I really enjoyed being part of 'Out Of The Blue' for BBC NI last year.

And just a quick aside - have you seen the new Aussie Love Never Dies DVD? [Niamh was part of the original London cast for Love Never Dies.]

No, I haven't actually. Andrew very kindly invited me to a screening but I was in rehearsals for A Song Cycle for Soho at the time. I've heard it is amazing! If I am really honest I would have to pluck up a bit of courage to watch it, most likely with a glass of wine... That show was such a huge part of my - very short - career both professionally and personally and it would bring back a lot of memories. I think it is a masterpiece and I am so pleased that it has been such a hit in Australia.

Niamh Perry is part of Easter With The Composers at the Battersea Barge on Sunday 25th March.
