Gary Naylor talks to Emma Williams, who will appear alongside Gareth Gates, Daniel Boys and other stars of stage and screen for one night only at New Wimbledon Theatre on Thursday July 19.

"I'm looking forward to singing roles that I wouldn't normally get the chance to play and to work with new people. I've worked with Daniel (Boys) before, but I've never had the chance to work with Gareth (Gates) or Jonathan (Ansell) - so that's all a bit exciting!

"When you do concerts, the great thing is that you are trying to put together a piece of entertainment, rather than create a production in which you play a particular role. That gives you the freedom to approach a song in a different way, because it's not part of a character's story - you're creating something different. That's always interesting. I'm singing songs I never got to sing in the shows, so that's always great.

"You're always giving your best and you're always doing it for the audience for the first time, whether you're performing for six people or six thousand. You're aware that some of the audience may know the context of the song from its show, but you can change the way you approach it and make sure that it still works.

"When I was 17 I made a film, and an agent was interested in me. After my A-levels, I signed to the agent and did auditions in my gap year. There was a lot of luck and and a lot of being in the right place at the right time involved in how my career got started.

"Next for me, I'm working on a couple of projects on my own production side of things. But right now, I'm concentrating on Momentous Musicals - it's the last of a series of concerts I've been working on, including the Bryn Terfel concert on the South Bank last week."

Momentous Musicals is at New Wimbledon Theatre on 19 July for one night only.
