hyper_object is an immersive production blending live theater, artificial intelligence, wearable neurotechnology, and interactive media. Created, written, and directed by award-winning VR artist Graham Sack, the work tells the story of a mysterious planet that can perceive the thoughts of humankind, exploring questions about human intelligence, AI, and planetary intelligence at the start of the 21st century. Actors and select audience members wear electroencephalogram (EEG) headsets that measure brain activity in real time, with those signals controlling a responsive audiovisual environment including multi-surface video projections, generative music and sound design, and a responsive dialogue system.
