Censored Voices: Silent No More at National Presbyterian Church

Censored Voices: Silent No More is a chamber concert presented by EGC Productions Inc. in partnership with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, spotlighting works by Russian composers Sergei Rachmaninoff, Sergei Prokofiev, Sofia Gubaidulina, and Dmitri Shostakovich — each of whom faced repression and censorship yet took risks to ensure their voices were heard. The program features pianist Joseph Holt, BSO violinist Boram Kang, BSO principal cellist Dariusz Skoraczewski, and soprano Catherine Wethington, performing works including Prokofiev's Visions Fugitives, Rachmaninoff's Vocalise, Gubaidulina's song cycle Phacelia, and Shostakovich's Piano Trio in E Minor, Op. 67. The concert is preceded by a pre-concert lecture and light buffet supper with BSO Scholar in Residence Dr. Rachel Franklin.
