A Fine Madness is a world premiere work created and performed by Justin Weaks, a Company Member of Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, and directed by Raymond O. Caldwell. Inspired by the Voyager Golden Record, the piece blends poetry, music, storytelling, games, and scientific inquiry to explore what we choose to carry forward about who we are. At its core is Weaks' personal narrative as a Black gay man in Washington, DC, navigating a recent HIV diagnosis, pushing back against erasure through radical honesty and communal meaning-making. Each performance is shaped in real time by the audience, making every gathering a wholly unique living archive.
