theatreWashington & Signature Theatre to Present SUMMER HUMMER IV: FOREPLAY, 8/17

theatreWashington and Signature Theatre are proud to announce the return of Summer Hummer, a burlesque-style fundraiser featuring some of DC's best and hottest performers. Summer Hummer IV: Foreplay will be held Monday, August 17 at Signature Theatre with two exclusive one-night-only performances at 7:30 PM and 9:30 PM. Tickets are $35 for General Admission or $100 for the VIP reserved section and are now on sale at SigTheatre.org or by calling 703 820 9771.

The Summer Hummer has become the Washington area's hottest and most provocative annual tradition. Directed by Eric Schaeffer (Broadway's Gigi, Follies and Million Dollar Quartet) and Matthew Gardiner (Signature's Cabaret, Sunday in the Park with George, Dreamgirls), it unites some of Washington's top theatre talent to raise critical funds for Taking Care of Our Own, a program of theatreWashington that provides emergency assistance to Washington-area theatre professionals. To date, Taking Care of Our Own has collected over $130,000 to help theatre professionals in need.

Co-director and creator Eric Schaeffer commented, "The Summer Hummer is a great night for the entire Washington theatre community. With over 100 artists donating their talents in a great, variety vaudeville show - it's always a night to remember in more ways than one."

Featuring a company of more than 60 singers, dancers and strippers, this year's Summer Hummer will feature an original opening number by Darius Smith and performances by Evan Casey, Carolyn Cole, Sherri Edelen, Will Gartshore, Donna Migliaccio, Tracy Olivera, Nova Payton, Bobby Smith, Stephen Gregory Smith, and Nicholas Rodriguez. Audience members are encouraged to bring extra cash and spare change for original stripteases from The Jockstrap Boys and Foreplay Pasties.

This year audience members can get in on the act by sponsoring a performer for only $500. Sponsors receive two reserved seats to Summer Hummer: Foreplay, their name in the program and a photo with the actor they've sponsored.
