Washington Improv Theater (WIT) is excited to announce their newest production, Citizens' Watch, a dramatic, improvisational whodunnit beginning on December 2nd and running with multiple shows through December 29th. Inspired by the British TV series, Broadchurch, Citizens' Watch is set in a small town, where a murder has rattled the close-knit community.

While many WIT performances focus squarely on the laughs, Citizens' Watch is a highly structured, dramatic improvisational performance centered around a town where everyone's a suspect and even the innocent citizens have dark secrets of their own. Citizens' Watch is part of Seasonal Disorder, WIT's annual holiday themed show, though it will serve as a more suspenseful counterpoint to others in the series. All shows will be held at Source (1835 14th St., NW).

"This is a cast of really funny, really smart folks, and humor is their instinct," said Citizens' Watch Director, Michael Hendrix. "I think the humor in this show is coming from a really different place than most improv. It comes from the characters themselves being funny out of sincerity, either because they are in a stressful situation, or because the improvisers have created a character with a good sense of humor. And there's so much tension to break in this show, I think it's ripe for moments of laughter."

Crowd participation will play a role in the production, as those who are in attendance will decide the name of the town and also roll dice to determine which one of the six townspeople is the murderer. The only person on stage who will know the identity of the killer will be the killer him/herself.

The show will have six performances starting December 2nd (press night) (as well as Dec. 3, 9, 17, 21 and 29). Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
