HELEN STAR HONOREES
Honoring Susan & Dixon Butler and to Pete Miller & Sara Cormeny with the 2010 Helen Star represents dedication to, and support of, an array of Washington area theatres. In addition to the board leadership roles played by Susan Butler (Studio Theatre) and Pete Miller (Woolly Mammoth), these four "stars" have played important roles in the development of local companies with their support of not only the two previously mentioned theatres, but also Constellation Theatre, Round House Theatre, Signature Theatre and Solas Nua. We honor their generosity.

THE HOST
Stage and screen actress Tyne Daly is no stranger to Washington. Most recently she appeared at The Kennedy Center in Master Class as part of the Terrance McNally festival and in 1990 brought her star turn to the iconic role of Mama Rose in Gypsy for which she was nominated for a Helen Hayes Award. Ms. Daly has also graciously served as host of the Helen Hayes Awards numerous times. She is widely known for her work as Detective Mary Beth Lacey in the television series Cagney & Lacey, as well as the CBS drama Judging Amy. She has won six Emmy Awards for her television work and won the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for Gypsy in 1989. Her other stage credits include a revival of the The Seagull, City Center Encores' staged concert of Call Me Madam, the Broadway production of Rabbit Hole, McCarter Theatre's world premiere of Edward Albee's Me, Myself & I and cabaret performances at Feinstein's in New York.
