By:

Australian performer Tim Minchin has been added to the line up at Reason Rally, March 24, 2012 on the National Mall in Washington, DC.

Minchin is an Australian musician, composer, songwriter, actor, comedian and writer. He is most recently known for his acclaimed 9-minute beat poem “Storm” that was animated and previewed at TAM London in October 2010. He also narrated Shaun Tan’s Oscar winning film The Lost Thing.

He continuously sells out the Sydney Opera House, and in 2011 was the recipient of numerous awards for his work, including the Helpmann Award for “Tim Minchin Vs Sydney Symphony”, and two Chortle Awards, for Best Music or Variety Act, and Best Tour. Minchin has also appeared on The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson.

“We are thrilled to have Tim Minchin travel from London to Washington, DC and be a part of the celebration,” Reason Rally organizer David Silverman said. “His presence will not only add a sense of intellect but he will also surely entertain the crowd with his well know antics.”

The Reason Rally, a nationwide celebration sponsored by the top secular organizations in the United States, will be held from 10 AM to 5 PM. With the intent to unify, energize, and embolden secular people nationwide, the Reason Rally is a FREE event that will combat negative stereotypes about nonreligious Americans. It is slated to be the largest secular event in world history. Leaders of the secular movement, including a FREE concert by Bad Religion, will fill the rally with music, comedy and reason.

Top names from the movement are also slated to speak at the Reason Rally, including Richard Dawkins, Taslima Nasrin, James Randi, Greta Christina and most recently added, Dan Barker. For a complete list, including bios, please refer to the Reason Rally website.

The Reason Rally will give secular Americans an opportunity to unite under a banner of reason and community at a level of impact that has never been seen before.
