Village Theatre is excited to announce that The Importance of Being Earnest will open in Issaquah at the Francis J. Gaudette Theatre on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at 8:00 PM. A single preview performance will take place the night before, Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at 8:00 PM. The show will open in Everett at the Everett Performing Arts Center on Friday, March 6, 2009 at 8:00 PM.

Village Theatre's production boasts an incredible creative team with director Brian Yorkey (AIDA, Footlight-award winning The Who's TOMMY, EVITA) at the helm. "We chose to set Earnest in the period in which it was written, the late nineteenth century. After all, that's the time Oscar Wilde wrote it for, satirizing the modes and manners of the upper classes in England in the last years of the Victorian era," Yorkey describes.

Karen Ledger (AIDA, Play It By Heart) comes on board to work her magic as costume designer. "With her flair for fashion, her wit, and her way with a dress...Karen makes the ladies look good. And the men too, of course," Yorkey comments. And bringing it all together is Bill Forrester's (Little Women, Once Upon A Time in New Jersey) scenic design, which allows this fanciful comedy to unfold seamlessly onto the Mainstage. "It's going to be tactile, real, true to the period, but still theatrical and very exciting," Yorkey explains.

Village Theatre's production boasts an incredible cast led by Seattle favorites Paul Morgan Stetler (John "Jack" Worthing), Jason Collins (Algernon Moncrieff), Jennifer Lee Taylor (Gwendolen Fairfax), and Laura Kenny (Lady Bracknell). This production is directed by Brian Yorkey; scenic design by Bill Forrester; lighting by Tom Sturge; and costume design by Karen Ledger
