TAKE Dance Presents 4 Performance Engagement 7/30-8/2
TAKE Dance Company, a contemporary dance ensemble known for its gentle blend of eastern and western sensibilities led by artistic director and choreographer Takehiro Ueyama, presents a program filled with exuberant play, human dancescapes and structural patterns that overflow the stage. The four-performance engagement will feature two premieres: the world premiere of Footsteps in the Snow, set to music by Arvo Part, and the New York City premiere of Shabon, set to the music of Steve Reich, as well as Love Stories (2008), a three movement pas de deux, and the beloved Linked (2008) "...a bright explosive tour de force" (The Daily Gazette) inspired by the music of Pat Metheny.
The fifth annual New York season of TAKE Dance Company will take place from July 30 - August 2, 2009 at Dance Theater Workshop, 219 W. 19th Street, NYC. A new documentary A YEAR WITH TAKE DANCE by Damian Eckstein will premiere on Sunday, March 22, 2009 at 8pm at Village East Cinemas, 181 Second Avenue at 12th Street, NYC. Tickets are $15 and are available at www.nyfilmandvideo.com. Seating is limited. Filmmaker Damian Eckstein earned his BFA in Studio Composition from SUNY Purchase. He has written and arranged countless jingles and underscores for companies such as Pepsi, Intel, and the CBS network. He currently writes songs and plays bass in Manhattan with his rock band GIFTSHOP. Mr. Eckstein shot the video, scored the music, and edited A YEAR WITH TAKE DANCE, his first film.Dance Theater Workshop, 219 W. 19th Street, NYC.
