Stage 1 Theatre Company Formed in Richmond

By:

Stage 1 Theatre Company is thrilled to join Richmond's stellar array of professional theatres. Founded by Artistic Director Chase Kniffen, Stage 1 will present an inaugural season – beginning Fall 2008 - of four works that will enlighten, entertain and exhilarate the human spirit.

Ground-breaking American musicals have always been the first love of Artistic Director Chase Kniffen. Stage 1 will fill a currently unoccupied place as the primary producer of the most hot-off-the-press American musicals available. Dedicated to being a front-runner in the Richmond arts scene - as well as on a national level - Stage 1 will present an immensely varied canon of plays and musicals that respond to all aspects of the human experience.

Stage 1 Theatre Company will make its home in a newly-renovated 99-seat black-box theatre space located at 9130 Dickey Dr. in Hanover County, just 10 minutes from Richmond City. The building, which is currently occupied by Shuffles Dance Center, will
continue to serve both organizations when Stage 1 opens in Fall 2008. The extremely convenient location is just off Rt. 301 past Interstate 295 – 15 minutes from anywhere in the Metro Richmond Area.

Tickets will be available for purchase by calling the Stage 1 Box Office at 427.7548 or by visiting www.stage1va.org
