Molotov Theatre Group, Washington DC's only Grand Guignol-based theatre company, is looking for Set Designers and Carpenters as part of its ongoing technical team for the 2013/2014 season and beyond.

The theatre company, which at present is entirely self-funded, is presenting "Extremities," "Normal" and "Killer Joe" this season in the DC Arts Center in Adams Morgan.

Interested parties should send resumes (and JPG photography of previous work, if available) to Michael P. Wright at mw@molotovtheatre.org AND Alex Zavistovich at alex@molotovtheatre.org. Deadline for applications is April 30, 2013.

The constraints of the DC Arts Center (in particular, the elevated upstage entrances and exits) create technical challenges in set design and construction. Molotov would like to develop an ongoing relationship with talented individuals who can realize the artistic needs of the company and its directors on an extremely limited budget.

Requirements:
· Previous experience in set design and construction for fledgling theatres
· Previous experience in working in DCAC preferred (although not required)
· Practical experience in construction (participation in set construction is expected)
· Ability to work cooperatively with artistic directors and fight choreographers to create safe spaces for extremely physical performances
· Ability to work on a limited materials budget, including creative ideas for obtaining materials as donations or gifts to the theatre
· Willingness to become part of a technical team dedicated to continually improving the aesthetics of Molotov set design and construction

Pay is a stipend per production. Again, involvement in set construction is expected.

The plays of the Molotov 2013/204 season:
· "Extremities," by William Mastrosimone (October 10, 2013 - November 3, 2014). Technical requirements would include construction of a fireplace large enough to accommodate an actor.
· "Normal," by Anthony Neilson (February 27, 2014 - March 23, 2014). Technical requirements would include a possible guillotine effect and construction of a large-scale sculpture.
· "Killer Joe," by Tracy Letts (June 5, 2014 - June 29, 2014, directed by Molotov Co-Artistic Director Michael P. Wright. Technical requirements would include creating a mobile home unit set that would incorporate DCAC's elevated upstage entrances.

Founded in 2007, the 501(c)3 non-profit Molotov Theatre Group is dedicated to education, preservation and exploration in the aesthetic of the Grand Guignol, or French Theater of Horror. Molotov Theatre Group applies the Grand Guignol ideals to contemporary and classic works. They also produce English translations of original Grand Guignol scripts to preserve and draw attention to this important, and essentially forgotten genre.
