JOY OF DANCE, Seth Kibel Bay Jazz Project and More Set for McLean Day 2013, 5/18

The Alden Stage at the McLean Community Center's annual community party, McLean Day 2013, will feature performances by some of the DC metro area's best bands. Seth Kibel will serve as the new master of ceremonies, replacing long-time Center volunteer Tommy Lukas. Kibel will also perform with the Seth Kibel Bay Jazz Project. The festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Lewinsville Park, 1659 Chain Bridge Road. Festival admission is free.

Other featured performers include the McLean High School Jazz Ensemble, young dancers enrolled in Joy of Dance classes at MCC and the McLean Citizens Association's presentation of their annual Outstanding Character Award for Teens.

11-11:30 a.m.
Joy of Dance
Students enrolled in MCC's Joy of Dance classes will showcase what they've learned.

12:45-1:15 p.m.
Davison
These kids were born to rock! This brother and sister duo of Davis Gestiehr, 12, and Madison Gestiehr, 14, has been performing since their elementary school talent show debut at ages five and eight. Since then, Davison has performed all over the DC region, including Davis' rendition of the Star Spangled Banner for a crowd of 36,000 at a 2012 Nats game.

1:30-2:15 p.m.
Seth Kibel Bay Jazz Project
McLean Day's master of ceremonies will pick up his clarinet and treat the audience to some "straight-ahead" jazz, featuring a few original songs as well as energetic renditions of classics by George Gershwin, Irving Berlin and others. Some of the region's best musicians will join Seth and get the joint jumping.

3-3:15 p.m.
McLean Citizens Association Teen Character Awards
The McLean Citizens Association will present its Outstanding Teen Character Award.

3:30-4 p.m.
McLean High School Jazz Ensemble
Under the direction of Mr. Scott Weinhold, this ensemble is one of the most popular the school offers.

4:30-5 p.m.
Joy of Dance
Students enrolled in MCC's Joy of Dance classes will return to showcase what they've learned and close the show.

Parking is not allowed at Lewinsville Park on the day of the festival. Starting at 9:30 a.m. and continuing throughout the day, shuttle buses will run from the park to Lutheran Church of the Redeemer at 1545 Chain Bridge Rd, McLean Baptist Church at 1367 Chain Bridge Rd. and MCC at 1234 Ingleside Avenue. Parking also is available at the Lewinsville Senior Center, 1609 Great Falls Street; shuttle carts will run from Evers Dr. at the rear of the building to Lewinsville Park.
