Actor Frank Britton, based in Washington D.C., took his opening night bow for the Forum Theatre's current production of "The Last Days of Judas Iscariot." After socializing in the lobby with fellow cast and crew members, Britton began to make his way home shortly after two o'clock in the morning. Britton was "literally feet away from a cab" when a group of young men began to surround him, according to the Washington City Paper. Britton says, "Before I knew it I was sucker-punched, hit in the head, hit three or four times."

Britton will be unable to perform tomorrow, as he is planned to undergo surgery for a shattered cheekbone today. Because Britton doesn't have health insurance, the D.C. theatre community and beyond have showed extraordinary support by starting a fundraising campaign for medical expenses.

Though in pain, Britton says, "I'm in relatively good spirits. I'm pushing forth. I'm just appreciating the love. I can't feel bad anymore."
