Synetic Theater announces the cast of The Taming of the Shrew which will star Irina Tsikurishvili, pulling double duty as both Director and starring as the feisty Katherine, and Ryan Sellers as the money hungry Petruchio.


Come to "Paduawood" where Synetic Theater will spoof Hollywood's famous-for-no-reason socialites in this modern day adaptation of one of the Bard's best-known romantic comedies! See the original "Battle of the Sexes" enacted with the dazzling choreography and physical comedy only Synetic can deliver! This production will not have dialogue.

This production is recommended for ages 14 and up.

About the Cast

The Taming of the Shrew stars Synetic Co-founder Irina Tsikurishvili (Katherine) with Ryan Sellers, Alex Mills and Chris Galindo reprising their rolls of Petruchio, Grumio and Tailor/Ensemble, respectively. Synetic veterans Irakli Kavsadze (Baptista), Justin Bell (Lucentio), Scott Turner (Tranio), Zana Gankhuyag (Gremio and choreographer), Janine Baumgardner (Widow/Ensemble) and Katherine Frattini (Ensemble) lend their talents to this production, as well. The cast also includes Nusa Tediashvili (Bianca) and Stephen Russell Murray (Hortensio).


About the Producer

Paata Tsikurishvili is the Founding Artistic Director of Synetic Theater. A native of the Republic of Georgia, he is an innovative, award-winning international artistic director, director, and educator with more than 20 years of experience fusing the classical elements of drama, movement, dance, mime, and music.

About the Director

Irina Tsikurishvili is the Co-Founding Choreographer and Associate Artistic Director of Synetic Theater, and has choreographed and starred in over two-dozen productions. Irina made her Synetic Theater Mainstage directorial debut with this season's performance of Dante's Inferno. She is a 33-time Helen Hayes Award nominee for both choreography and acting, and has won the Award for Outstanding Choreography eight times. Her choreography was also featured in the 2013 film Swan Song.

About the Choreographer

Zana Gankhuyag was 15 when he took his first class at Synetic Theater. His first show with the Synetic Teen Company was Teen Romeo and Juliet and made his transition into Synetic's Mainstage almost immediately, performing in Home of the Soldier. He has since performed in over a dozen Mainstage productions, most recently as the handsome and determined "Prince" in Sleeping Beauty.
