What's a Tudor monarch to do when he has to face all six of his wives in the afterlife?

After a sell-out, critically successful, award nominated run at Edinburgh Fringe in 2016, Tier 5 Theatre's hit Tudor drama, Ladies in Waiting: The Judgement of Henry VIII has taken the U.S.A. by storm. It made its stateside debut earlier this month at the Hollywood Fringe Festival with a completely sold out run and winning the HFF17 Fringe International Award (an award honouring the top show of the festival originating internationally) as well as being chosen as a Pick of the Fringe (Top 20 shows of the entire festival). It also became the first show of the festival to receive a #DoubleSweet rating from aggregate review site, Better Lemons, meaning it received top ratings from both critics and audience members alike.

During its sell-out Edinburgh Fringe run, LADIES IN WAITING received immense critical praise, with multiple four stars reviews, a Top 10 Ranking on Broadway Baby's Theatre List, and an Eddie Award nomination from London's Drayton Arms Theatre. Now, the production is excited to continue on its tour, bringing this powerful, female-driven drama to Washington D.C.

Originally workshopped, performed, and produced by graduates of England's East 15 Acting School's MA Acting and MFA Acting International programs, LADIES IN WAITING finds King Henry VIII in a purgatory-like situation, where one by one he must face off with each of his wives. Through dark humour, devastating truths, sexy seductions, and powerful revelations, Henry comes face to face with what his legacy has become: one entirely defined by women.

The playwright, James Cougar Canfield, will be performing as Henry VIII while his wives will be portrayed by: Hilary Kelman (Catherine of Aragon), Amy Frey (Anne Boleyn), Laryssa Schoeck (Jane Seymour), Jennifer Haining (Anne of Cleves), Margaret Gorrell (Catherine Howard), and Claiborne Tomlinson (Katherine Parr).

Directed by Mitchell Glass, a MFA Directing graduate from East 15 Acting School, LADIES IN WAITING will perform at the Eastman Studio Theatre at Gallaudet University, select dates throughout July. Tickets on sale June 19th at capitalfringe.org.
