Americans for the Arts, US Conference of Mayors Announce Public Leadership Awards
Americans for the Arts and The United States Conference of Mayors today announced the recipients of their 2011 Public Leadership Awards. Herbie Hancock will receive the Legendary Artist Award; Anna Deavere Smith will receive the National Artist Advocate Award; and Carmel, IN Mayor James Brainard, Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter and New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson will receive the Public Leadership in the Arts Awards.
The awards honor elected officials and artists that have demonstrated outstanding leadership in the advancement of the arts. Recipients will receive the honor on Thursday, January 20 at The United States Conference of Mayors' 79th annual winter meeting in Washington, D.C.
