Photo Flash: Michael Frayn's HERE Approaches Final Performances

After a brief run as part of new festival Greenwich Performs, Greenwich Theatre's new production of Michael Frayn's rarely performed comedy HERE is set to close this Saturday. Having played to packed houses, the production marks the 25th anniversary of the play's first production at The Donmar Warehouse, though presented here in a revised version as written during and after a 2012 production at the Rose Theatre in Kingston.

The production is directed by Greenwich Theatre Artistic Director James Haddrell, who said "Michael Frayn's play is deceptive. On the surface, it is a play about a young couple setting up home together for the first time, and the somewhat eccentric landlady they share the house with. However, as the title suggests, it is also a play about the way we invest locations with meaning. A random building becomes a home because of our relationship to it, and then changes again when we move on - though of course, the location, the coordinates, the position in relation to the rest of the world doesn't change."

The production also represents a gradual return to producing at the South London venue, where an in-house family production of The Jungle Book recently completed its home run and subsequent transfer to Stantonbury Theatre in Milton Keynes.
