The American Musicals Project (AMP) presents its annual benefit gala: George Gershwin's Song-book, on March 5th at the New-York Historical Society, 170 Central Park West (at 77th Street). Featured was Victoria Clark along with Jeffry Denman, Laura Griffith and John Jellison.

The program featured Gershwin's own arrangements for 18 of his favorite songs, unavailable since he played them on his famous 1934 concert tour, after which he handed the arrangements over to Simon and Schuster. The performance was directed by Scott Alan Evans, and featured pianist Linda Hall, assistant conductor of the Metropolitan Opera.

Every year, the American Musicals Project celebrates great composing artists of the musical theater with a series of live concerts at the New-York Historical Society. The AMP also produces a creative educational curriculum that promotes the study of History and English through musical theater to seventh and eighth grade students in the New York City public schools.
