Town Hall Theater to Screen THE MAGISTRATE, Starring John Lithgow, 1/17

By:

Academy Award nominee and Tony Award-winner John Lithgow returns to the English stage in the title role of Arthur Wing Pinero's uproarious Victorian farce, The Magistrate.

In a similar vein to last year's smash NT comedy, One Man, Two Guvnors, the show has audiences doubled over in laughter.

When amiable magistrate Posket (Lithgow) marries Agatha, little does he realize that she has subtracted five years from her age, and her son's age as well - which is a little more difficult to carry off, as the boy who thinks he's only 14 is actually 19. Agatha is much too young to have a 19-year old son - or at least, that's what she wants the world to think. When her deception looks set to be revealed, it sparks a series of hilarious indignities and outrageous mishaps.

Time Out London summed it up best: "The Magistrate is a hoot!"

The Magistrate will be shown on the big screen at Middlebury's Town Hall Theater on Thursday, January 17 at 7 pm. Tickets are $17, $10 for students, and may be purchased at www.townhalltheater.org, 802 382-9222, at the THT Box Office (Noon-5 pm. Mon-Sat) and at the door.
