Spybird Theater's "Eye of the Storm" returns to Sandglass Theater on Friday July 12 and Saturday July 13 at 7:30pm. After their first staging completely selling out at last fall's 'Puppets in the Green Mountains' festival, Jana Zeller and Zak Grace are bringing their darkly comic puppet show back to Sandglass, revamped and revised.

Eye of the Storm is a 60 minute theater piece that takes place on a sinking island. A storm blows in, shadow sequences unveil a distant world, mother and child part, a toilet becomes a means of communication, a penniless husband and wife make grotesque attempts to leave their shack. Set by the ocean and accompanied by original music, the atmosphere of our world is surreal, its visual beauty captivating, our story provocative. Performed by Jana Zeller and Zak Grace with hand puppets, rod puppets and shadows, to original music by Anna Patton.

"Eye of the Storm" was created in part with funding from the Jim Henson Foundation and a commission by Sandglass Theater funded through the National Endowment for the Arts. It opened as a first staging at Sandglass Theater's 'Puppets in the Green Mountains' Festival in 2012, was further developed with an additional grant from the Jim Henson Foundation, and played at the Henson Foundation Carriage House in NYC in April. Tickets are $16 general, and $13 for students and Seniors. This show is appropriate for adults and youth over 10 years old.
