Five journeymen jazz players who've spent a lifetime playing with the greatest jazz legends will soon regroup at Town Hall Theater for an evening of jazz standards and original compositions. The Miles Donahue quintet plays THT on Friday, April 19.

The personnel - and their resumes - are extraordinary. Jerry Bergonzi played saxophone with the Dave Brubeck band from 1978 - 1982, and can be heard on nine of the classic Brubeck albums of that period. Jerry is a full time professor at New England Conservatory in Boston.
Pianist Alain Mallet did four tours with Paul Simon, and he's toured with Paquito D'Rivera and Phil Woods. Alain is a professor at Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Drummer Adam Nussbaum has played with Gary Burton, Toots Thielmans and Sonny Rollins, to name just a few. Jay Anderson, on bass, has just returned from a tour of Japan with the Maria Schneider Orchestra, and has been the bass player with the Joe Sample trio for the last several years.

Miles Donahue plays trumpet, tenor, soprano and alto sax, and trumpet. Miles teaches at Middlebury College and has 12 albums available on iTunes.

As ambassadors of jazz, these musicians want to spread the music any way they can. So everyone at the concert will receive a free CD.

The Miles Donahue Quintet plays Middlebury's Town Hall Theater on Friday, April 19, at 8 pm. Tickets are $17, with a special $10 ticket for students, and may be purchased at www.townhalltheater.org, 802 382-9222, at the THT Box Office (Mon-Sat, Noon-5 pm) or at the door.
