This week, Dorset Theatre Festival is excited to open their production of Neil Simon's celebrated romantic comedy, Barefoot in the Park. This production represents the kind of high energy comedy which Dorset has become known for, thanks in no small part to DTF's Resident Director Jenn Thompson, whose productions of Noises Off and Boeing-Boeing were local favorites the past two seasons.

Thompson brings with her a history of successful comedy (her revival of Lost in Yonkers won rave reviews from The New York Times, The Daily News and The Huffington Post), and a habit of making theatre with the people she loves most. Her father, Evan Thompson appears in the production, and the sound designer is none other than Thompson's husband, award-winning Broadway actor Stephen Kunken, who audiences will remember as a cast member in Thompson's production of Noises Off . The family also brings with them their three year old daughter, Naomi.

Joining the Thompson family in Dorset is another theatre couple - Amelia White who Dorset audiences will recognize for her memorable turns in Noises Off, Boeing-Boeing and Deathtrap, and her husband, Geoffrey Wade, most recently seen in the Weston Playhouse's production of Educating Rita. White and Wade are longtime friends of the Thompson clan and friends of the Dorset Theatre Festival as well.

Artistic Director Dina Janis says, "Having Jenn and her family come up every summer is wonderful-we like to think of the whole festival community as a family, and they're a huge part of that. The fun they have up on that stage is infectious!"

Barefoot in the Park runs July 25th through August 10th with evening performances at 8 pm Wednesday through Saturday and some Tuesdays and matinees at 3 pm on Wednesdays, Sundays and some Saturdays. For tickets call the box office at (802) 867-2223 or online at dorsettheatrefestival.org.
