Dorset Theatre Festival opened its current production of "Noises Off," and Jenn Thompson, director of the play, has assembled family and theatre friends to perform the acclaimed British farce."Noises Off" will continue through August 13.

The play, written by Michael Frayn, made its Broadway debut in 1982.  This DTF production is updated including revisions to Act III. Thompson's said her goals for DTF's production of "Noises Off" is to turn away from the play's cynicism.

In DTF's production, Thompson has cast her father, Evan as Selsdon and Tony-nominated husband, Stephen Kunken as Lloyd. Joining the ensemble cast is Amelia White as Dotty, Kate Middleton as Brooke, Matthew Schneck as Garry, Oliver Wadsworth as Freddie, Jake Green as Tim and Nilanjana Bose as Poppy. Broadway veteran, Valerie Wright, who plays Belinda in "Noises Off," was previously directed by Thompson in a regional production of "Damn Yankees."

Thompson, on Broadway, enjoyed a two-year-run starting at the age of 10 as Pepper, the tough orphan in Annie. During her junior and senior high school years, she was frequently in Los Angeles for TV work. She is probably best known for her role of Dee in the television show, Harper Valley P.T.A. More recently, Thompson's stage responsibilities have revolved around the role of director. In the spring she was named Co-Artistic Director of Off-Broadway's TACT/The Actors Company Theatre.

Performances are set for Wednesday through Saturday at 8 p.m., with matinees on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m.
