Straight | The Man Who Came to Dinner | Gypsy
Giving three, because there are far too many to choose from. And all good things come in threes. (For proof, go see Straight the play.) 1. "I Got Lost in His Arms" - Annie Get Your Gun - Just plain gorgeous and spot on. 2. "What’s the Use of Wond’rin" - Carousel - My cousin asked me to sing at her wedding and I presented her with this and she said, “Ummmm is this a love song?!” I certainly think it is! 3. "You’ll Never Get Away From Me" - Gypsy - Anyone who knows me knows I had to pick a Gypsy song. "All I Need is the Girl" is a strong runner up, but I just love Herbie and Rose’s relationship and watching and listening to Bernadette and John Dossett perform this was a lesson in how to be in love on stage. Hopefully Jake and I will be able to compete with their chemistry!

A Bronx Tale. Les Miserables | Leap of Faith
“On My Own” - Les Miserables. I know it's not a traditional "love song" but it describes such an intense longing and undying love. I guess it's sort of a stalker fantasy song, but I'm sure we've all loved someone from across the room. Right? Right?

Love Never Dies
My favorite Broadway love song is “All I Ask of You” for a lot of reasons, but I grew up with it. My parents actually had it played at their wedding reception, so it feels like a part of my life.

The Unsinkable Molly Brown | Natasha | Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812
My favorite Broadway love song is "You Matter to Me" from Waitress. Sometimes in love you don't have the exact words to tell someone you love them. That's real!

A Bronx Tale
My favorite love song is "Only You" by The Platters. I think the lyrics are so simple and beautiful. It's makes you feel like you are back in time.

Les Miserables | Beauty and the Beast
I would say "On My Own" from Les Miz. After singing it 8 times a week I can say that it is one of the most beautiful songs about unrequited love....it creates images that are so poignant and timeless!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory | Cinderella | The Addams Family | Spamalot
My valentine broadway song of choice this year is appropriately "Sara Lee." Any song that talks about cheesecake and brownies and other delicious treats is so very romantic to me!

They're Playing Our Song | Cabaret | Guys and Dolls | Carnival! | Gypsy
I choose "Our Love is Here to Stay" by George and Ira Gershwin, which was the last composition George wrote; and, the words were written by Ira after George died, making it very poignant. It was in the film An American in Paris and in the Broadway show The 1940's Radio Hour. My story with this song comes from when I was doing They're Playing Our Song and I fell in love with the sound engineer, Armand. Both of us had been married before and were wary about falling in love again. We took a break, I went to Rio, and during that absence we both realized our love is here to stay!

Wicked
I’m certainly biased, but “As Long As You’re Mine” from Wicked takes the cake for me. The song has undertones of desperation and danger that imbue it with greater weight than I think is present in most love ballads. The characters know their time together is likely short, so they love each other almost fiercely. Plus, it’s Schwartz. Really, what more needs be said?!

The Phantom of the Opera | PHANTOM - The Las Vegas Spectacular | The Rhythm Club
"How Could I Ever Know?" from The Secret Garden. When I saw that number at the end of the show, I thought it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.

Into the Woods | Memphis | It Shoulda Been You
One that comes to mind is "Love Will Stand When All Else Fails" from Memphis. I sang it in the second act when I was in the recording studio. It's a love song for the ages.

Hark! | Legend | Balancing Act | Nunsense | Nunsense 2 | Nunsense Jamboree | Nuncrackers | Meshuggah-Nuns | Nunsensations
My favorite song is "He Was Too Good To Me" by Rodgers & Hart. It was dropped from their show "Simple Simon." They were crazy to drop that song! Everytime a song is dropped from one of my shows I put it in the next one! Fortunately many singers have made "He Was Too Good To Me" a standard.

Significant Other
My favorite Broadway love song is "Two People In Love" from Baby. The music without any lyrics makes you feel good. It's already swelling before it starts. It's the beginning honeymoon part of the relationship where life is great and we're singing duets and we're singing in harmony. I could listen to that song at the gym, which is kind of embarrassing but true.

Tuck Everlasting | On the Town | A Chorus Line
As a hopeless romantic I'd have to say my favorite Broadway love song is "If I Loved You" from Carousel. Pure & beautifully haunting. That scene beneath the blossom trees is one of the most romantic in existence in my opinion. Undeniable love at first sight.

Aladdin | The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
My favorite Broadway love song is "Dear One" from Kiss of the Spider Woman. I think its a beautiful melody and the overlapping arrangement is gorgeous. It's very tender and sad, and I found it very effective.

Chicago | Hadestown | Jesus Christ Superstar | The Lion King
My favorite Broadway song is, “What About Love”, from The Color Purple. This song has always held a special place in my heart for many years, especially now that I had the absolute pleasure to perform it night after night at the Portland center stage. After recently having my wedding, something additional inside me has changed. I appreciate the love of life and the people in it even more! My life is filled with love and I know that to experience it every day is what it is all about.

Fiddler on the Roof | A Class Act | High Society | Les Miserables | Grease
I don't know if it's my favorite of all time, but it is my favorite right now. I recently got to sing "Next Best Thing to Love" and I was reminded what a great love song it is. Not the typical love song. A love song for the kind of love that just misses, but is still a big love. And definitely for those of us who have been around the block a few times!

"Love I Hear” from Stephen Sondheim’s A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum. "I pine, I blush, I squeak, I squawk, today I woke to week to walk, what's love I hear, I feel, I fear, I know I am, I'm sure, I mean, I hope, I trust, I pray, I must be in!"

Stephen Sondheim's Old Friends | The Lyons | Guys and Dolls | Proof | An American Daughte
"I've Never Been in Love Before" from Guys and Dolls because I got to sing it! And it just moves me every time I hear it or think about it. And again, one of those moments where I go, did that really happen? Did I get to do that?

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory | Sister Act | School of Rock
I'm gonna take it back, old school - "Something Good" from The Sound of Music. I love a love that is staring at your right in the face for a while before you realize it.

The Heart of Rock & Roll | Holiday Inn | How to Succeed... |
I would say "Carousel" from Jacques Brel, which was one of the first shows I directed in New York. In French it’s “La Valse a Mille Temps” which means a waltz played in 1000 time (as opposed to being played in three). It’s a gorgeous love song that spins out of control as life gets messier, but it’s still the same love that underpins it right to the end.

Funny Girl | A Soldier's Play | After Midnight
“I Want To Be With You” by Sammy Davis Jr and Paula Wayne from Golden Boy. It’s my favorite because the song emphasizes the reality of losing someone and the pain that comes with it while at the same time using that pain to stress the importance of not taking love for granted.

"They Say It's Wonderful" from Annie Get Your Gun. And I'll say, hearing it as a closeted fourth grader... how profound!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factor | Motown
I have two favorite Broadway love songs...they are "Love Changes Everything" from Aspects of Love, and "So In Love" from Kiss Me Kate! I think that both of these songs are beautiful, both melodically and lyrically, and they perfectly capture so much about what it can feel like to be in love.

I love "I Can Hear the Bells" from Hairspray. It just captures what you feel when you really like someone.
