The 4th Annual Joey Awards Celebrate Canadian Youth In Film And Onstage
Over 175 YOUNG PERFORMERS from across Canada will walk the RED CARPET on November 18, 2017 at a sold out 400 seat gala awards event to celebrate youth achievements in screen and stage.
JOEY AWARDS' founder Liz McKinnon recognized the hard work and dedication of up and coming Canadian talent. "The kids in Canada deserve this recognition. They go to school, maintain great grades, participate in other activities, and socialize, but still find time to learn their lines, attend auditions and do what they love, which is to perform."
Nominees were selected from over 1,500 entries. Attendees include cast members from The Handmaids Tale, Prison Break, Edge of Seventeen, IT, Date My Dad, Anne of Green Gables, Colossal, Arrival, Heartland, iZombie, Arrow, Supernatural, Once Upon a Time, When Calls the Heart, Supergirl, The Flash, DC Legends, Murdoch Mysteries, Degrassi, Saving Hope, Supernatural, Orphan Black, Alias Grace, The Magicians, The Book O. Henry, Disney's Descendants 2 and more.
Guests will not be sipping champagne, but will be dipping into a massive candy buffet.
McKinnon says "We are in our 4th very successful year and it is so much fun to see how these young performers have grown in their craft from year to year, and also to welcome new faces into the Joey Awards Family every year! This year we have 2 nominees that were only 3 years old at the time of filming! The kids love to get dressed up and have a special day!"
Past winners have included Canadian talent such as Jacob Tremblay for Room and Finn Wolfhard for Stranger Things. Also watch for upcoming Canadian starlet Peyton Kennedy who is up for a leading actress in a feature film award for American Fable, which did extremely well at festivals and garnered her many awards. Peyton is our next Canadian breakout actress, who recently filmed "Everything Sucks" in Los Angeles, which is touted to be Netflix's next big hit with a similar fanbase to the megahit "13 Reasons Why".
Watch the Red Carpet for many of our upcoming and established Young Canadian Performers! If it was filmed in Canada, and had a child or teen in it, there is a good chance one of those young performers will be on our Red Carpet!
