Staircase Theatre proudly presents the world premiere of Scott Button's The Hunger Room, a dark thriller that'll have audiences on the edge of their seats. Directed by Stephen Heatley, The Hunger Room stars Evan Frayne, Raylene Harewood, Camille Legg, Joey Lespérance and Matt Reznek. The Hunger Room will feature Production Design by Daniel VanHeyst and Sound Design by Stephen Bulat. The show plays at the PAL Studio Theatre May 25-June 10, 2017.

The Hunger Room is a dark thriller that explores loneliness, disconnection and violence. A crisis takes over a suburban high school when a mysterious stalker begins delivering notes written in blood to targeted female students. Soon enough, everybody's a suspect, including the teachers. But what's really happening underneath the suspicion? And what is "the hunger room" that the notes keep mentioning? As the situation escalates, students and faculty alike become more desperate to expose each other's darkest secrets - and to protect their own.

Playwright Scott Button is a Vancouver-based theatre artist. As a playwright, he's participated in the LEAP Playwriting Intensive at the Arts Club, has written for the Pull and Shift Festivals which focus on new work, co-created an immersive site-specific piece with Christine Quintana, and has also written several short films. His work has been shortlisted by The Flying Start program (Touchstone/PTC) and has received favorable feedback in national contests. He believes strongly in writing plays that have powerful roles for women, and creating work that is inclusive to artists of diverse ethnic and sexual backgrounds. While at UBC he was the recipient of two scholarships, The Sidoo Family scholarship and the Joy Coghill award, which is bestowed upon a promising first-year student.
